This book seeks to explore the role of sin in the conflicts, crises, and catastrophes of the four major tragedies of Shakespeare - Hamlet, King Lear, Macbeth and Othello.
The four tragedies of Shakespeare are analysed in meticulous detail in terms of sin in all its ramifications: unfaithfulness, rebellion against and separation from God, transgression of law, violation of the ten commandments ending in the seven Cardinal Vices. He traces the stages and consequences of sin in the tragedies: temptation, moral conflict and conscience, sin and knowledge and sin and free will.
